MachineMetrics Debuts Real-Time Automated Production Monitoring Software, Bringing Internet of Things (IoT) to CNC Manufacturing

Northampton, MA (PRWEB) April 21, 2015

MachineMetrics, a startup located in Western Massachusetts, has launched a production monitoring software package designed as a solution to specific problems present in modern manufacturing; specifically, poor data and visibility into production, production delays, and difficulty achieving high efficiency and OEE. Early adopters have already reported a 20% increase in productivity since incorporating MachineMetrics into their daily workflow.

The software consists of three main components: a notification system that sends out SMS or email alerts to managers when production falls behind, a live dashboard intended to be displayed on TVs across the shop floor, and historical reporting to monitor improvements and diagnose issues. These components use information that is pulled automatically every second from the machines in the shop, with no human input required. Information is stored securely in the cloud rather than in on-site servers, minimizing both upfront and ongoing maintenance costs.

MachineMetrics benefits people at all levels of the machine shop. Operators get to see real-time reports on their progress compared to expected goals, and floor managers can use this information to give recognition to hard workers. Conversely, the email and SMS notifications allow managers to offer assistance with problems immediately when they occur rather than after the problem becomes critical. Historical reporting allows management to see the bigger picture, and find recurring inefficiencies.

End users today expect software thats beautiful, easy to use, works across all devices, and built for the cloud. Unfortunately in manufacturing, there are very few choices that meet this expectation. ERP systems are not designed to monitor performance data, and require manual input. MachineMetrics fills this massive gap and is already helping our early customers become world class said William Bither, CEO of MachineMetrics. William previously founded an enterprise software company called Atalasoft that sold to Kofax.

MachineMetrics believes that the manufacturing industry is a prime candidate to benefit from the rise of the “Internet of Things,” which uses emerging technology to allow machines to communicate to each other without the need for human interaction. The company plans to use this theory as a guide for the development of its software, in order to bring as many benefits to their customers as possible. MachineMetrics has more detailed information about its new product available on its website, http://www.machinemetrics.com
